MSOE graduates enjoy 97% placement rate, high starting salaries

December 6th, 2016

Dec. 6, 2016 – MSOE’s recent graduates are enjoying an even higher placement rate and average starting salary than in previous years. According to MSOE’s Career Services Department, 97 percent of the university’s 2015-16 graduates are currently employed in their fields of study or enrolled in graduate school. Their average starting salary has increased to $60,146 from $56,991 last year.

“Employers continually remark on our students’ ability to hit the ground running and begin contributing on day one,” said Dr. John Y. Walz, MSOE president.

A total of 253 companies hired these graduates and the top employers (those hiring four or more) were Aurora Health Care, Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center, Direct Supply, Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin, GE Healthcare, J.W. Speaker, Johnson Controls, Milwaukee Tool, Mortenson Construction, ProShip Inc., Rockwell Automation, Snap-on Tools, U.S. Navy and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare (now Ascension).

In an average of the past four years, 58 percent of MSOE full-time undergraduate students came from Wisconsin—and 75.9 percent of the class of 2015-16 has remained in the state.

“MSOE graduates are helping Wisconsin’s brain gain,” said Walz. “Students are gaining real-world experience in our laboratories thanks to our faculty, who bring years of industry practice into the curriculum.”

Students and graduates continue to be in demand. In September, 242 employers attended MSOE’s annual career fair, making it the largest ever; and 32 employers have conducted on-campus interviews this school year so far. Dozens more are scheduled to visit campus on recruiting missions in the coming weeks and months.

Milwaukee School of Engineering is an independent, non-profit university with about 2,900 students that was founded in 1903. MSOE offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering, business and nursing. The university has a national academic reputation; longstanding ties to business and industry; dedicated professors with real-world experience; a 97% placement rate; the highest ROI and average early and mid-career salaries of any Wisconsin university according to PayScale Inc.; and is highly ranked by organizations such as U.S. News and World Report, Forbes, Wall Street Journal and The Princeton Review. New ranking helps employers find best college graduates

June 1st, 2015

College_Recruiter.jpgMilwaukee School of Engineering was included in a new ranking that helps employers find the best college graduates. College Recruiter, a niche job board used by recent college graduates to find entry-level jobs and students to find internships, announced the 12 winners of its 2015 Hidden Gem Index for the best colleges and universities for employers who want to hire high quality graduates who majored in electrical and communications engineering.

College Recruiter compared 185 majors at virtually every one of the 4,000 one- and two-year colleges and 3,000 four-year colleges and universities in the United States. A custom labor market or salary research report can tell an employer, for example, what the going rate is for a recent graduate with a certain major at a specific institution.

The modeling for this hidden gem school project was to identify the schools which featured high SAT/ACT scores for entering students, high average starting salaries for the regions in which the schools were located, a high percentage of graduates working in their chosen field of study, and a majority of the graduating class available for recruitment by employers.

The top 12 hidden gem schools are:

  1. University of Dayton
  2. Western Washington University
  3. Milwaukee School of Engineering
  4. Oklahoma State University-Main Campus
  5. University of Maine
  6. University of Cincinnati-Main Campus
  7. California State University-Long Beach
  8. University of Houston
