Additional information about campus safety, student parking alternatives, our shuttle service and more is available on the Campus Intranet. The Intranet is accessible when you're on campus; from off campus you'll need to use your MSOE username and password to get in. See https://inside.msoe.edu/public_safety/.

Students living in the Residence Halls
MSOE has one resident student parking structure. Parking Applications for the 2012-2013 school year are now being accepted. The application deadline to apply for a Resident Student Parking permit is 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. The MSOE Public Safety Department will inform students via email how and where they can purchase a student parking permit. The online application link is now open and available.

NOTE: Parking is available for resident students, but is not guaranteed. Preference is given to upper classmen living on campus. There is a fee for resident student parking permits. The fee for a Resident Student Parking Permit is $540.00 for the entire year ($60.00 per month), with a prorated refund for any unused portion of the academic year.

Commuting Students
MSOE has two small commuter student parking areas on campus. Due to the size of these parking areas, applications for parking in these lots is restricted to students with senior and junior class status. The application deadline to apply for a commuter student parking permit is 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. Permits are assigned via a lottery system with preference to senior commuting students. The MSOE Public Safety Department will inform students how and where they can purchase a commuter student parking permit. The online application link is now open and available. Additionally, the Public Safety Department web page will contain updated information over the summer months concerning commuter student parking as it becomes available.

NOTE: On-campus parking is available for commuter students, but is not guaranteed. Preference is given to senior students. There is a fee for commuting student parking permits. The fee for a Commuting Student Parking Permit is $360.00 for the entire year ($120 per quarter), with a prorated refund for any unused portion of the academic year.

Additional commuter parking in our off-campus student parking structure for freshman, sophomore, junior and senior students may become available after the school year begins. Should this occur an email announcement will be sent out to all students. Additionally, the Public Safety Department web page has a link to a listing of alternative parking in the area, including addresses, contact numbers, and approximate fees.

Evening Students
Students taking evening classes at MSOE may park free-of-charge from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on most MSOE parking lots provided they register their vehicle with the Public Safety Department and receive a no-fee Evening Parking Permit. These permits are available at the MSOE Public Safety Department main office starting the first day of classes.

Motorcycle/Moped Parking
For both day and evening hours, motorcycles and mopeds do not require a parking permit, but they must be registered or re-registered each academic year with the Public Safety Department. Motorcycles/mopeds may only be parked in the designated motorcycle/moped areas at the west end of the State Street A Lot, located at 501 East State Street and the east end of the Broadway lot, 1036 N. Broadway. There is also indoor motorcycle/moped parking in the SLCC underground garage for $75 per quarter. Motorcycles/mopeds not registered with the Public Safety Department or parked in any other campus areas are subject to a citation without warning. Due to snow removal, there is no overnight motorcycle/moped on the two outdoor motorcycle/moped parking areas from the end of the fall quarter to April 1st.

Coming in 2013: On-campus parking for all students
With the completion of the new MSOE athletic field and parking complex in summer of 2013, all students will have access to on-campus parking. The facility will house 780 parking spots available to students and the campus community, and will be topped by a soccer field for MSOE’s men’s and women’s soccer teams. When the lot opens, there will be a few changes to the parking policy:

  • All students will have access to a parking spot if they want one. There will be no lottery system and no preferential treatment for upperclassmen.
  • Pricing for on-campus students, commuter students and evening students will remain the same as it is currently. However, pricing is subject to change. MSOE’s pricing is below the average market price for a parking spot in downtown Milwaukee.
  • There will be motorcycle parking in the new facility with a motorcycle rate (to be determined). There will also be a secure bicycle area available free of charge.
