MSOE has a full-time opening for an English-as-a-Second Language Coordinator in our Learning Resource Center. This is a ten month, full-time position. Primary duties will include providing one-on-one academic support mostly for international students but also for native speakers; implementing language building and writing skills development workshops that complement English and composition courses; the possibility of teaching up to two ESL courses per quarter; identifying and articulating special needs of international students and finding ways to meet those needs. Other duties will include managing the department's drop-in writing center
and teaching several sections of an academic skills course for at-risk students. The selected individual will possess a Master's degree in English or related communication field and/or a related field of higher education; a Master's Program specialization (certification) in ESL is a plus; experience in working with international students and adult, non-traditional students; and job experiences with tutoring or teaching English grammar and composition at the college level.
