MSOE invites applications for Web/Media Specialist. This individual will help develop and maintain various MSOE Web sites using our dotCMS and Drupal content management systems as well as Web editor tools including Dreamweaver; create Web and video graphics; record audio/video on location, digitally edit and prepare for distribution in various digital formats.
Qualified candidates should have expertise using Web content management systems and code editors; solid understanding of Web design, usability and accessibility guidelines; Web application design and development skills for building dynamic, interactive Web sites; backend development of content management system. Also experience with video production and nonlinear editing; creating, digitizing and converting audio and video for a variety of presentation formats; proficient with industry-standard visual design tools and techniques; and proficient on both Mac and PC.
Key Web Skills
- Expertise using CSS to separate content, presentation, and behavior using CSS-based layout.
- Web design skills, including information architecture, usability and interface design.
- Web development skills, including Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, XML, PHP, SQL and Web database technologies used in searchable / interactive Web pages. Knowledge of Velocity scripting and backend development within the dotCMS content management system a plus.
- Understanding of user interface (UI) design, Web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG).
- Experience with solving cross-browser and cross-platform compatibility issues (IE, Firefox, Safari, etc.).
- Experience with video production standards and techniques including location audio and video, and nonlinear video editing.
- Proficient with industry standard design tools including Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Acrobat Professional to develop Web graphics, animations and other Web documents.
- Experience with creating streaming audio and video, live Webcasting, compression methods, file types, and formats.
- Solid understanding of computer graphics visual design techniques, such as principles of design, color, layout, monitor resolution issues.
