The Field
Architectural engineers are the engineers who make buildings function. Among
their duties, they design and create
the heating, air conditioning and electrical systems of buildings.
Architectural engineering graduates pursue careers in the construction industry
or related areas.
The Program
The four-year bachelor of science degree program prepares you for a career
in the design and construction of buildings and building systems.
Through a combination of lecture and laboratory courses, you will connect theory and the practical application of design principles, practice, methods and materials. Graduating from the architectural engineering program provides you with a core of mathematics, science, construction materials and business, plus a design specialty.
There are three design specialties offered in the architectural engineering program. You must select one of the design specialties in your junior year:
- Building Electrical Systems
- Building Environmental Systems
- Building Structural Systems
The MSOE Advantage
MSOE's impressive faculty
is the core of the architectural engineering program. With years of experience
practicing what they teach, the
professors make phenomenal instructors and even better mentors. The laboratories in which you learn the ins and outs of
your profession are industry standard and so are the computer programs you will
use. Additionally, the program
offers the benefits of longstanding partnerships with business and industry
leaders, as well as a comprehensive
focus on student support.
The Results
MSOE's graduates enjoy an average starting salary over $48,700. The placement rate in architectural
engineering is 100%! The placement rate
is so high because MSOE students work in sophisticated labs and learn important
careers skills such as collaboration and client presentation. Companies such as
GRG Engineering, A. Epstein and Sons
International and Johnson Controls hire many of our graduates each year.
