The CSEC is a space for hands-on learning about construction materials and methods for students in MSOE's construction management and architectural engineering programs. Our goal is for our graduates to understand the relationship between their work and the physical realities of the construction process.
Testing equipment in the CSEC lab allows us to demonstrate the behavior of full-scale structural components-such as concrete beams and wood shear walls-in our structural engineering courses. Our goal is for our graduates to understand the relationship between design procedures and the behavior of structures.
Two grants from the National Science Foundation, along with continued financial and material support by local sponsors, help us to conduct these activities on a scale not seen at other universities.
