Market Manager- New Product Development

 

Description of your current position:
Manage products from initial concept to market.

 

Necessary education or experience for your current position:
BS Engineering - Experience to include; Regulatory, Design, Marketing, Clinical, Manufacturing, and Quality for Medical Device Monitors

 

On MSOE and Biomedical Engineering

 

Do you think a degree in BE is a good choice?
Yes.

 

Do you think MSOE is a good choice of college?
Yes.

 

Why did you choose MSOE's BE program?
I was always interested in Medical, Electrical Engineering and could not decide between the two. BE was a perfect match of both.

 

What did you like about MSOE?
The hands on experience (labs) proved to be a major advantage as I started working.

 

What did you like about the BE program?
The small size classes and the personal attention from the teachers. Looking back I believe the major life lesson learned from the BE program is that you can learn anything as long as you put your mind to it. The BE degree allows you to be a “jack of all trades” which has helped me in my career.

 

Now that you are in graduate school, are you happy with the education that you received in the BE program at MSOE?
Absolutely.

 

Key skills that are necessary to be successful in your position:
Broad range of expertise.

 

A descriptoin of your path to your current position:
Started off as a Manufacturing Engineer moved to Product manager then to Project manager / Design Engineer then to Engineer Manager and now I am the Business Manager / Marketing Manager for new product development.

 

Good and bad aspects of your current position:
Bad – Dealing with typical company politics
Good – Get to use all my diverse experiences with this position
