As a computer engineering student at MSOE, you will engage in a highly rigorous academic experience. A big reason so many of our graduates achieve heightened levels of success is that they encounter such a challenging academic program.
At the same time, we are committed to positioning our students to achieve everything we know they’re capable of achieving. Our small university environment means that you will be valued as an individual and receive all the personalized guidance and support you need.
Here are some of the programs and resources we have in place to support computer engineering students …
Academic Advising
You will meet with your faculty advisor on a regular basis to make sure you’re on track and planning accordingly for upcoming academic terms. Computer engineering advisors are full-time faculty, so there’s a good chance you will know them as professors as well.
Individualized Tutoring
MSOE’s Learning Resource Center coordinates group programs for freshmen and sophomores, student-led interactive study sessions and individualized peer tutoring services — all of which is available at no cost.
Technical Support Center
The Technical Support Center (TSC) is a resource to support computer engineering students while they use the department’s laboratories and facilities. The center is open seven days a week throughout most of the academic year, assists with student design projects, provides technical support to more than a dozen labs, and distributes lab kits and parts “tackle boxes.”
Professional Organizations
Computer engineering students can take advantage of membership opportunities in professional organizations, such as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). These kinds of organizations provide an ideal setting to sharpen skills, develop new interests and network with professionals working in the field.
Internships
Internships provide students with unparalleled opportunities to apply the knowledge they’ve gained, develop their own skills and interests, and establish meaningful professional connections that often lead to full-time positions after graduation. Some companies and organizations that consistently offer internships to MSOE students include …
