SEED Show 2004

FIRST PLACE: AUTOMATIC NUTRITIONAL TRACKER -- Dominic Perz, Brandon Stolz, Aaron Ting, Michael Wenzel
This is a handheld device that will track a person's nutritional intake and record the information over a period of time. The device contains a Universal Product Code (UPC) database on compact flash card (CF) allowing the user to simply scan the UPC code for the item they consume, enter the serving size, and then see their accumulated nutritional intake.

SECOND PLACE (TIE): Automated Packaging Assist Table (APAT) -- Yusuf Abbasi, Tony Arnone, Joel Riske, Jason Schaub
Designed for Rock Tenn Co. of Milwaukee, the APAT system is capable of accelerating the packaging rate of paper products to three times the previous rate. The system incorporates AC servomotors, electrically-actuated pneumatic actuators, and programmable logic and structural design.

SECOND PLACE (TIE): The OVCM -- Kevin Barnekow, Thomas J. Condon Jr., David Marchand, Brian Roltgen
The OVCM, or Over Voltage Control Module, is a fail-safe device to provent an gasoline-powered electric generator from operating in an overvoltage condition. The device will prevent overvoltage problems caused by a failed governor or other malfunctions. One design constraint was that the solution must cost under $1.

Congratulations to all SEED Show design participants -- there were many fine projects making the judging particularly difficult. Here are additional scenes from the 2004 SEED Show.
