The Field
Wireless communications, personal computers,
efficient electrical vehicles and high-definition television - more and more
electronic products come out all the time. Just think. Twenty years ago who had
a cell phone or a Blackberry? And we also didn't have MP3 players.
If you graduate with an electrical engineering technology degree, then you'll be prepared to join industry to work on these and many other products. Even the ones we haven't heard of yet.
The Program
The
electrical engineering technology program provides a distinctive educational
path into the electrical/electronic disciplines from two aspects: structure of
the curriculum and typical careers of the graduates.
The electrical engineering technology (EET) program at MSOE is a "2+2 EET" (junior/senior years) program. Based on this design, it is not appropriate for new-to-college freshman students. Transfer students and returning former MSOE EET students are eligible for admission.
For more information, go to 2+2 Program.
The MSOE Advantage
We place a strong
emphasis on design, applications and
hands-on laboratory experimentation. The laboratory is the place to grasp
classroom theory. How can you best learn something? By doing it. You will
design, build and debug electronic
systems that function just like the specifications.
MSOE also has a strong relationship with local industry. For students, this equates into ideas for design projects and industry internships or summer jobs. We prepare graduates for successful immediate entry into industry, as well as for graduate school.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has approved the MSOE Electrical Engineering Technology (EET) curriculum, and has approved MSOE as a partnership institution, allowing EET students to participate in FAA internships and EET graduates to be hired through the FAA Collegiate Training Initiative (CTI) program.
The Results
90% of
MSOE's electrical engineering technology students last year found employment
with an average starting salary of $51,600.
Now they have careers in great companies, including:
- Rockwell Automation
- Underwriters Laboratories
- Aerotek
- Jacobs Engineering Group
- Bucyrus International
...or are attending graduate schools across
the country such as Ohio
State University
and UW-Madison.
