Admission Requirements

Master of Science in Perfusion

Academic Requirements

  1. Applicants must have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate discipline (biomedical engineering, biology, biomedical sciences, etc.) with an undergraduate GPA of at least 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale).
  2. At least one undergraduate course in physiology (or anatomy and physiology) is required. Recommended course work includes biochemistry, math, physics, and statistics.
  3. GRE general test scores having percentiles that average 50 percent or better.
  4. Three letters of recommendation , of which two should be from faculty who can judge the applicant's academic abilities. The third may be from a faculty member or a supervisor/employer who can speak to the applicant's professionalism, ability to work on a team, be responsible, etc.
  5. If your native language is not English, a score of 79 or better must be achieved on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). There are additional filing requirements for International students.

Clinical Requirements

  1. Applicant must have observed at least two clinical cases under the direction of a Certified Clinical Perfusionist prior to formal acceptance into the program. If applicants cannot schedule case viewings locally, these can be done at our facilities if the applicant is invited for an interview.
  2. Successful completion of a personal interview.

Application Deadline

The program will start reviewing applications after January 15 each year for the September class. Applications will be considered until the class is full, after which applicants will have the option of being considered for the waiting list as well as carrying over their application for the following year.
