disciplines both to the baccalaureate education and, in particular, to the
education of the professions for which MSOE grants degrees.

Goals
As a result of general education at MSOE, as a student, you should be able to achieve the following six goals:
- Culture and Cultural Values: You should be able to understand and appreciate the diversity of cultures, in the United States and in the world, in both their historical and contemporary manifestations.
- Personal Development: You should be able to develop social skill for professional and non-professional environments, and to form habits that encourage a desire for life-long learning and personal growth.
- Communication: You should be able to communicate audience-centered, well- developed and well-organized ideas in writing and speaking, using appropriate stylistic devices and graphical/visual media.
- Ethics and Integrity: You should be able to develop the capacities to recognize moral conflicts, identify alternative courses of action creatively, justify their decisions, and act accordingly.
- Independent Thinking: You should be able to think creatively, to read and listen critically, and to assimilate ideas and analyze their merit.
