While students learn how to prepare samples in the Wet Biotechnology Lab, they learn how to analyze those samples in the Dry Instrumentation Lab. Starting their junior year, students will work in this lab and use sophisticated machinery like an Atomic Force Microscope. Students will conduct gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), a method by which a sample is vaporized and the remaining gaseous particles are studied. In addition, students will learn about thermodynamics, transport phenomena, bioinstrumentation and kinetics.
