The National Fluid Power Association's (NFPA)
Fluid Power Challenge is a two-day competition during which teams of eighth-grade students work together to solve an engineering problem using fluid power. The students spend the
Workshop Day learning about fluid power and developing their skills for the competition. The teams have several weeks to design, build and test their fluid power prototype. The teams then come back on
Challenge Day, where they use the same tools and materials to recreate their mechanism, which is designed to pick up weighted objects and place them on a platform.
The NFPA Fluid Power Challenge introduces students to fluid power while engaging them in a fun and challenging learning environment. They learn real-world team building and communication skills and are introduced to fluid power as a potential career.
