Registration for the 2015 OP Math and Computer Competitions are now closed.

Computer Competition

Friday, November 20th

  • Registration Fee: $60.00 per team
  • Team registration may ONLY be done by your teacher / team coach using the online shopping cart.
  • Composition of team: Four (4) students.
  • Teams are encouraged to bring their own laptops (2 per team)
  • Maximum number of teams the competition will host: Unlimited

Each four-member computer team works together using two MSOE laptops to design programs to solve problems of varying levels of difficulty. Teams may use either Java (Eclipse or BlueJ) or C++ (Microsoft Visual Studio .NET). The laptops are equipped with touch pads. Participants are encouraged to bring USB mice.”

7:30 – 8:30 a.m. Optional Practice Session
8:30 – 8:45 a.m. Competition Orientation (teachers only)
8:45 – 11:15 a.m. Competition
11:15 – 11:30 a.m. Break (awards will be determined during this time)
11:30 – 12:00 p.m. Awards ceremony
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. Optional campus tour (must sign up in advance)

 

Mathematics Competition

Monday, November 24th

  • Registration Fee: $85.00 per team
  • Team registration may ONLY be done by your teacher / team coach using the online shopping cart.
  • Maximum of one (1) team per school. Additional teams may be added to your school after November 1st.
  • Eight (8) students. Teams may be comprised of fewer than eight students, however, the team score is a total sum of points earned, not an average.
  • Maximum number of teams the competition will host: 30
  • Calculators Are Required. The TI-89, TI-92 and any devises with internet access are NOT ALLOWED.

9 – 9:20 a.m. Event 1 – Algebra
9:25 – 9:45 a.m. Event 2 – Geometry
9:50 – 10:10 a.m. Event 3 – Advanced Math
10:25 – 10:45 a.m. Event 4 – Problem Solving
10:50 – 11:10 a.m. Event 5 – Team Competition
11:15 – 11:35 a.m. Break (final standings will be determined during this time)
11:35 – 12 p.m. Awards Ceremony
12 – 1 p.m. Optional campus tour (must sign up in advance)

 

Science Competition

Tuesday, November 25th

  • Registration Fee: $85.00 per team
  • Team registration may ONLY be done by your teacher / team coach using the online shopping cart.
  • There is no limit to the number of teams each school is allowed to register.
  • Eight (8) students. Teams may be comprised of fewer than eight students, however, the team score is a total sum of points earned, not an average.
  • Maximum number of teams the competition will host:30
  • Hand-held calculators are permitted and recommended, but no other reference materials will be permitted in the event rooms including devices with internet access. Scratch paper will be provided.

9 – 10:30 a.m. Individual test – General Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics

10:45 – 11:30 a.m. Event 5 – Team Event (all answers on bubble sheet must be filled in during this time. No extra time will be given)
11:30 – 11:45 a.m. Break (awards will be determined during this time)
11:45 – 12:15 p.m. Awards Ceremony
