The most common question that other MSOE Alumni ask me is "Why did you become involved with the MSOE Alumni organization".

My short answer is to connect and reconnect with other MSOE Alumni, but the answer is much more than "meeting new people". The question is best answered by sharing a few of my recent MSOE Alumni experiences:
  • I recently had a three-hour lunch with a childhood friend, fellow MSOE Alumni and now business partner who was visiting New York City.
  • While visiting Florida on business, I had dinner with two MSOE Alumni followed by many hours of sharing stories of MSOE and our travels since MSOE.
  • Played ice hockey at the Kern Center during the 2012 MSOE Alumni Hockey game, reconnected with several of my MSOE hockey teammates and connected with many recent MSOE hockey alumni.
  • Attended MSOE’s Summer in the City Alumni Reunion highlighted by watching a Milwaukee sunset from the Grohmann Museum Rooftop Garden followed by a Milwaukee sunrise from Veteran’s Park the following morning (an MSOE rite of passage).
  • Hosted two MSOE Alumni events at Citifield. Connected and reconnected with other MSOE Alumni (and Milwaukee Brewers fans) living in and around New York City.
  • Introduced the MSOE campus, the city of Milwaukee and many MSOE Alumni to my wonderful wife Elena.
  • Connected and reconnected with hundreds of MSOE Alumni across the United States and beyond.
The question that I most often ask myself is "why did I wait over two decades before reconnecting with MSOE?" If I had stayed connected after graduating from MSOE in 1990, I would have attended Packer games with Packer Elvis (my senior lab partner). If I had remained connected with the MSOE Alumni Association when I moved Westward, I might have visited with MSOE classmates and friends who lived in Seattle, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City and Denver. If I had reconnected a few years earlier, I could have waterskied with fellow MSOE Alumni in Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire and the Finger-Lakes of New York.

So I ask you, why haven’t you reconnected with MSOE?

I encourage you to reconnect with MSOE, attend Alumni events, rekindle old friendships and meet new friends. As the East Coast Director , I hope to connect with other MSOE Alumni and friends of MSOE, facilitate connections between MSOE Alumni by supporting networking and alumni programs, coordinate programs and events with the Office of Alumni Development and providing a mutual point of connection in social networking and media sites.
