Personal Information you might wish to share:
My wife, Monthira, and I, are the proud parents of a 14-year-old … black lab named “Chewy” (yes she’s named after the Pro-Bowl tight end, not the Star Wars character). So as you can guess, I am just one of many avid Packer fans in Bears country. I am also a very proud owner of that great NFL franchise, as well as a season ticket holder. In addition to my duties as an NFL owner, I also volunteer time for the VA as a coordinator and driver for the transport van to take Rockford-area veterans to their appointments at the Madison VA hospital. I am adjutant and volunteer time for the Sons of the American Legion at Post 1207 in Rockford. Recently I have taken an interest in studying WWII and re-enacting. I portray my father’s WWII unit, the First Special Service Force (aka The Devil’s Brigade) and attend their annual reunions in Canada and the US. I also enjoy motorcycling, snowmobiling, hiking and traveling.
Share a memory or two from your days at MSOE:
To me, the greatest highlight of my MSOE experience was being a part of the WMSE radio broadcasters club. I really enjoyed bringing alternative music to the Milwaukee airwaves and am proud that the radio station continues to be a driving force on the Milwaukee music scene. Between WMSE and residing in MLH I made many great friendships. I can remember sitting in fluid power class listening to the construction noise of the Schroeder library being built. Although iconic structures such as the bookstore, St. John’s, and A, B, & C buildings are now only a part of MSOE lore, they have been replaced by much more impressive structures such as the Kern Center and Grohmann museum.
Why you are choosing to be involved as an area chair?
I hope that I can bring a small bit of the MSOE flair to the alumni of the Rock Valley area. I feel it is important for alumni to have a way to stay personally connected with MSOE. I am open to suggestions for improving our networking opportunities. We, as alumni, are an important asset to MSOE and our local communities. Through these networking opportunities, we can utilize our combined knowledge and skills to enhance and promote the reputation of the university and ourselves.
