Storm the Bastille
8 p.m., Werwath Mall

Kick off Summer in the City and Bastille Days with the annual "Storming of the Bastille" 5-k run and two-mile walk in honor of the 18th century attack on the Bastille Prison in Paris. The event starts at 9 p.m., but alumni and friends can meet at MSOE’s Werwath Mall between the Schroeder Library and Science Building at 8 p.m. Pick up your MSOE T-shirt and water bottle before heading over to the starting line at Jefferson and Wells Streets. After the race, meet back at the Werwath Mall for refreshments and fun!

The MSOE Wall of Fame recognizes distinguished alumni who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and have made significant contributions to their workplace, community and MSOE. Campus Tour

11:15 a.m.; departs from APC

Enjoy a guided tour of MSOE’s campus. Special stops will include the Kern Center, the newly dedicated nursing complex, and the Grohmann Museum, home of the Man at Work collection, and more. Wear your walking shoes! Free.



MSOE and MCGHSN Scholarship Luncheon

11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Todd Wehr Auditorium, 1047 N. Broadway

Join graduates from the Milwaukee County General Hospital School of Nursing and MSOE School of Nursing for a scholarship luncheon, specifically honoring the classes of 1963 (50-year anniversary), 1988 (25-year anniversary) and 2003 (10-year anniversary). Proceeds from this event (“gold baskets” and annual silent auction) benefit the MSOE School of Nursing. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated. $25 per person


Following the luncheon, take a tour of the brand new nursing complex located on the first floor of the Student Life and Campus Center. Learn about the high-tech simulation labs, assessment labs, home-care lab and nursing station that enable students to integrate the use of technology with sensitivity and caring.



Harley-Davidson Museum Tour
1 – 3 p.m., bus departs APC promptly at 12:45 p.m.
 
Our shared 110-year history roars to life at the Harley-Davidson Museum®. Join the HD Museum staff for a very special guided tour that offers an exclusive, in-depth explanation of museum exhibits and provides a glimpse into the private areas of the Harley-Davidson Archives. Transportation provided. $30 per person.



Bust to Boom: A Forecast for America’s Economy
3:30-5:30 p.m., Grohmann Museum Auditorium, 1000 N. Broadway

Listen to area business leaders and members of MSOE’s Board of Regents discuss America’s energy boom, a dramatic rise in the re-shoring of American jobs, and tremendous developments in automation. They all point to a future of abundant productivity growth, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Join in the conversation at this year’s Rader School of Business panel discussion. Free.



Raider Reception
5:30 – 8 p.m., Grohmann Museum, Rooftop Sculpture Garden

Unwind after a busy day of activities while visiting with other alumni and guests. Snack on hearty hors d’oeuvres and assorted beverages, and then enjoy a short program while we honor the graduates of the classes of 1963, 1988 and 2003 and bestow the annual Distinguished Alumna of the Year Award upon Kathleen Malone Ruehlow ’72. Free.

2013 Distinguished Alumna of the Year
MSOE Regent Kathy Ruehlow ’72 is a graduate of the Milwaukee County Hospital School of Nursing, which merged into MSOE in 1995. Kathy is the widow of MSOE alumnus and Regent Gerald Ruehlow ’69 who died in August 2004. Jerry was President – Chief Technology Officer of Generac Power Systems Inc. and also a Distinguished Alumnus. Kathy is president of the Ruehlow Family Foundation established after the sale of Generac. She is a strong supporter of MSOE students through a multiplestudent scholarship program established in the Ruehlow family name, and also through her major support of the new nursing complex.

Money Talks

Are you mystified by all of the new rules and regulations for social security? Is the thought of planning your estate so daunting that you just cannot bring yourself to sit down and actually do it? Have you given up on investing and don’t know where to turn for a decent return on your money? Join us for 90 minutes of fast-paced presentations with plenty of time for questions and answers as we tackle these issues! Presented by Scott Weaver, J.D., MSOE’s director of planned giving. Guided Scenic Motorcycle Tour
10 a.m., departure from APC

Get your motor runnin’! Join MSOE’s VP of Development Frank Habib ’09 as he leads you along scenic back roads through the Kettle Moraine. A lunch stop will be included; pay for your own food/beverage. You must bring your own motorcycle to participate. Free.



Campus Tour
11 a.m., departs from APC

Man at Work Collection Tour
1 – 2:30 p.m., Grohmann Museum

This tour provides an in-depth look at Man at Work: the Eckhart G. Grohmann Collection. Spanning the previous four centuries, this collection of more than 900 paintings and bronzes is united by one common theme: man at work. Free.



Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan Harbor Cruise
3:30 – 5 p.m., Edelweiss Dock, 1110 N. Old World Third Street

This relaxing cruise is great for enjoying the sights of Milwaukee from the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan shoreline on our own private boat—just MSOE alumni and their guests. This cruise is an hour and a half long, departing at 3:30 p.m. and returning at 5 p.m. The price includes all-you-can-eat Usinger brats and a Milwaukee Brewing Company microbrew. A cash bar is also available for the duration of the cruise. Soft drinks are free.

Please meet by 3:15 p.m. (15 minutes prior to departure at 3:30 p.m.) at the Edelweiss I dock, a short walk from MSOE, at 1110 N. Old World Third Street. All passengers must be 21 or older with valid ID to board this cruise. Refunds will not be given for anyone who cannot provide valid ID. $20 per person.



Class of 2003 Reunion
7-11 p.m., Walter Schroeder Library, 500 E. Kilbourn

Celebrate your 10th reunion while taking in the experience of Milwaukee’s awesome French festival, Bastille Days! You’ll have your own reserved area in front of the Schroeder Library to mix and mingle, with access to the library’s first-floor classroom for a cash bar and hearty, complimentary hors d’oeuvres. Registration for this event is required, parking is included. Free.



Silver and Gold Dinner
6 p.m. cocktails, 7 p.m. dinner, Grohmann Museum

Members of the classes of 1963 and 1988 (MSOE and MCGHSN) and their guests are invited to join Dr. and Mrs. Hermann Viets for a special reunion dinner. Reminisce with your classmates about life in college, recall the days spent in labs and classes, and celebrate your many accomplishments since graduation! Cocktails will be served on the beautiful Grohmann Museum rooftop with dinner following in the comfort of the second floor gallery. Dietary restrictions will be accommodated. $25 per person.

MSOE Grohmann Museum
May 24 – Aug. 18, 2013

Born of Fire: Scenes of Industry from the Westmoreland Museum of American Art
This exhibition brings together more than 20 paintings from the Westmoreland's collection of late nineteenth and early twentieth century scenes of industry. Featured works capture the transformation of the American landscape from an agrarian society to an industrial one, interpreted in the work of both Pennsylvania and national artists celebrating industry as their subject.

The Westmoreland Museum of American Art is the largest repository of southwestern Pennsylvania art in the country and the share this exhibition with the hope of developing a new appreciation not just for the art of Pennsylvania, but other geographic regions as well.

Bastille Days
July 11-14, 2013

Bastille Days, Milwaukee’s popular French festival and one of the nation’s largest French-themed celebrations, returns to downtown Milwaukee’s Cathedral Square Park, July 11-14. The free, fourday bash attracts more than 250,000 visitors annually who enjoy live music, an international marketplace, chef and wine demos, French and Cajun cuisine, and a signature 43-foot Eiffel Tower replica, created by MSOE students, offering hourly light shows.

Located in downtown Milwaukee and adjacent to MSOE’s campus, Bastille Days provides a unique setting that both residents and visitors always find charming.

Charles Allis Art Museum
Designed by prominent Milwaukee architect Alexander Eschweiler in 1911, this unique Tudor-style mansion and art collection was built with the sole purpose of bequeathing it to the public to delight, educate and inspire. Pabst Mansion
In 1892, the Flemish Renaissance Revival Mansion of Captain Frederick Pabst, world famous beer baron, accomplished sea captain, real estate developer, philanthropist and patron of the arts, was completed. From the day the house was inhabited, it was considered the jewel of Milwaukee’s famous avenue of mansions called Grand Avenue and represented the epitome of America’s Gilded Age Splendor in Milwaukee. Boasting stunning interiors, elegant original furnishings, elaborate wall coverings, the finest wood craftsmanship, intricate ironwork, brilliant stained glass, and rare art, the Mansion helped make the 1890s the "Pabst Decade" in Milwaukee.

Villa Terrace Decorative Art Museum
Overlooking Lake Michigan, the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum was designed and built in the style of an Italian Renaissance villa by architect David Adler in 1923. The building was originally the residence of former A.O. Smith president, Lloyd Smith, and his family. The museum features fine and decorative arts dating from the 15th through the 18th centuries, wrought-iron masterpieces by Cyril Colnik, the Renaissance Garden, and changing exhibitions.
