Dr. Steven Bialek serves as interim department chair of MSOE's
Rader School of Business. He provides leadership in the areas of
curriculum, faculty recruitment and promotion, strategy development and
execution for the business school that includes 10 full-time and 35
part-time faculty. He teaches in the areas of project
management, organizational behavior, and strategic
management. The Rader School of Business enrolls 250 undergraduate
students in four degree programs, and 125 graduate students in two degree
programs.
Prior to joining MSOE in 2001, Dr. Bialek worked for the University of Wisconsin System, Office of Academic Affairs and the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He served as an academic program planner with the UW System assisting the 13 UW campuses with developing and assessing academic degree programs. While at UW-Madison, he worked for the Department of Engineering Professional Development as lead administrator for the independent study program. In addition, he held joint appointments as a researcher with the Center on Education and Work, the Office of Human Resource Development and the Office of Quality Improvement. His responsibilities included conducting research on work-based learning, designing manager/supervisor training, and serving as a strategic planning and process improvement consultant.
Dr. Bialek's research has included examining the role of employers in work-place learning in a study conducted for the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. He also led a research study to improve and sustain Kentucky's system of school-to-work education. Bialek was awarded a grant by the Association for Continuing Higher Education to study the decision-making of adults who returned to college.
Dr. Bialek's work in strategic planning and process improvement included facilitating multiple project groups that implement UW-Madison integrated Peoplesoft computer information system. He also developed and led professional development classes for the certification of managers and supervisors in the state classified employee system. In addition, Bialek developed new product training for a drug introduced by the Amgen Therapeutics Corporation.
Other professional experiences include serving as director of part-time enrollment and graduate admission for Milwaukee School of Engineering, acting director of continuing education for Wisconsin Lutheran College, and director of student activities at Grinnell College, IA.
Dr. Bialek holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, master's from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
