Instruction
The MSOE Baseball Prospects Clinic isdesigned to provide instruction on the fundamentals and techniques for each player's specific position. The MSOE Baseball Prospects Clinic is designed to provide in-depth instruction on the proper fundamentals of throwing, fielding, pitching and hitting. Participants will receive instruction on how to properly run the base paths and MSOE's philosophy on hitting. Each camper will experience a progression of drills focusing on specific techniques thatwill benefit their performance. Participants will have an opportunity towork in small groups with an MSOE coach.
Location
The Baseball Prospects Clinic is held at the Kern Center, MSOE’s 210,000-square-foot health, wellness, fitness and recreation facility.
Drop-Off/Pick-up Information
Participants should arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the camp. If a camper must leave early, the camp director must be notified.
Equipment
Participants are required to bring their own bat, batting gloves, glove and proper workout attire.
Registration Deadline
The registration deadline is 5 days prior to the start of the camp. All payments are to be made in full. Participants will be accepted up to the day of the camp, space permitting, but must pay the “post-deadline” cost.
Confirmations/Refunds/Cancellations
Registration confirmation will be sent prior to the start of the clinic. Participants will not receive confirmation if they register within five days of the clinic. No refunds will be given unless a doctor’s excuse is provided. In the event of a clinic cancellation, participants will be notified five days prior to the start of the clinic. A full refund will be given.
If MSOE closes due to inclement weather, the Kern Center also will close and clinic will be cancelled. Snow closing announcements will be posted on www.msoe.edu. Participants also may call (414) 277-6763 to find out if the university is closed.
Coaches
Troy Doering
MSOE Head Baseball Coach Troy Doering is in his sixth season as MSOE’s head baseball coach. Doering started his collegiate baseball career at Triton College in River Grove, Ill. During his first season, Doering was named Second Team All-Conference as a second baseman and competed in the 2000 Division I Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. In his second year at Triton, Doering earned First Team All-Conference honors as an outfielder. He also was named team captain for the 2001 season. After earning a scholarship to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Doering was selected First Team All-Conference as a utility player in both seasons. Doering played a key role for the Panthers in 2002 as they won the conference tournament, earning a bid to the NCAA tournament. During his senior season at UWM, Doering was named team captain. Before being promoted to head coach at MSOE, Doering served as an assistant coach for one year.
Cole Kraft
MSOE Assistant Baseball Coach Cole Kraft graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a communication degree and is currently playing for the Rockland Boulders of the CamAm League. He graduated from Menomonie High School in 2006, where he was a 12-time letter winner in football, basketball and baseball. Kraft was a WBCA Co-State Player of the Year in Spring Baseball. He then spent one year at Winona State University playing football. In 2007 he transferred to UWM where he was the starting short stop for two years and second baseman for one year. He was part of the 2010 UWM Horizon League Tournament Champion and Tempe Regional Team.
