Meier to play in the NABC All Star Game

Salem, Va.  - Senior forward Austin Meier (Oshkosh, Wis./Oshkosh West) will play in the 2011 Reese's Division III College All-Star Game in Salem, Va. Saturday at 1:00p.m. EST. The NCAA and NABC teamed a year ago to hold the first senior all-star game for Division III, replacing a consolation game which had been played in previous seasons.

Meier was recently named Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year. He is the all-time leader in NAC history in scoring, field goals, free throws made, rebounds and steals. Also, Meier was selected as Capital One Academic All-America of the Year for the College Division. It's the second year in a row that Meier is a member of the Academic All-America First Team.

Meier led the Raiders in scoring (17.3 PPG), rebounding (10.7 RPG), field goals (165), field-goal percentage (.531), free throws made (108), blocks (16) and steals (86). He holds the MSOE career record for rebounds with 883. He also was a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy which honors the most outstanding Division III basketball players.

Past and present recipients of the NABC Division III Distinguished Service Award will once again coach this year's squads. Participants for the game arrive in Salem two days prior to the game and will be involved in a community service project, attend the championship banquet and practice with their teams.

MSOE set a new school record with 19 wins during the 2010-11 season. The Raiders recorded a 12-4 conference record which put the team second in the NAC South Division and fell to Aurora 72-67 in the quarterfinals of the NAC Tournament.
