Verona, Wis.-- The MSOE women's soccer team's turnaround from 2006 was noticed by everyone in the Northern Athletics Conference; and it showed as Raider's Head Coach Rolf Zersen was touted the NAC women's soccer Co-Coach of the Year, sharing the title with Kanute Drugan, who's Aurora Spartans won the NAC championship and were selected to the NCAA tournament.

Zersen coached the MSOE Raiders to a 7-4-1 conference record (sixth) and a 9-7-3 overall mark. MSOE finished 2-15 in the 2006 season as an independent. In the coaches' preseason poll, the Raiders were tabbed to finish tenth their first season in the NAC.

"We have always known that Rolf (Zersen) was a great coach, up until now, he has never had the personnel to succeed in the wins/ losses column," said Dan Harris, MSOE athletic director. "This year, his recruiting efforts in landing eight spectacular freshmen showed perseverance and intense effort. Our women's soccer team has turned the corner."

Zersen was joined by four other players who reached All-Conference honors. Freshmanfreshman forward HeidiHiedi Brehmer (Eagle River, Alaska /Chugiak HS) received First Team All-NAC honors and was a selection to the All- Rookie team. Two MSOE seniors, defender Andrea Baker (Racine, Wis. /Racine Horlick) and midfielder Vickie Georgakas (Greenfield, Wis. /Whitnall) were chosen to the NAC Brehemer was joined on the All-Rookie team by midfielder Mindy Donald (Fredonia, Wis. /Ozaukee).

Zersen and MSOE women's soccer was recognized regionally this year as they were ranked among the top teams in the Midwest region the week of September 23, 2007.
