Verona, Wis. -- The MSOE women's soccer team's turnaround from 2006 surprised many and now awards are being bestowed on the team for their success. The coaches of the Northern Athletics Conference rewarded the team with five selections onto All-Conference squads, including Head Coach Rolf Zersen being selected as the NAC Coach of the Year.
 

Freshman sensation Heidi Brehmer (Eagle River, Alaska /Chugiak HS) was the lone Raider named as a First Team All-NAC selection. In conference games, Brehmer had nine goals and three assists, including two game winners. For the season, her 12 goals and six assists led the team in goals, assists and points for the season.

Two MSOE seniors, Andrea Baker (Racine, Wis. /Horlick) and midfielder Vickie Georgakas (Greenfield, Wis. /Whitnall) were chosen to the NAC Second Team. Baker, a solid defenseman all four of her years as a Raider, had one goal on the season starting in 17 of the 19 games she played. Georgakas completed the conference season with three goals and two assists. Overall Georgakas started in all 19 games played, totaling three goals and six assists and she totaled 12 points on the season. She tied Brehmer as team leader in assists with her six. She completes her career as the school's leading goal scorer with 32 goals.

Brehmer was joined on the All-Rookie team by midfielder Mindy Donald (Fredonia, Wis. /Ozaukee). Donald scored three goals and one assist starting in all 12 NAC contests. For the season, Donald accumulated 13 points on five goals and three assists.

Zersen coached the MSOE Raiders to a 7-4-1 conference record (sixth) and a 9-7-3 overall mark. MSOE finished 2-15 in the 2006 season as an independent. In the coaches' preseason poll, the Raiders were tabbed to finish tenth their first season in the NAC.

Zersen and MSOE women's soccer was recognized regionally as they were ranked among the top teams in the Midwest region the week of September 23.
