Men's Basketball lose exhibition battle to Division I UW-Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wis.—The Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders battled in a preseason exhibition game with Division I UW-Milwaukee, but lost 68-43 at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

Andy Voigt led the Raiders with 12 points and three assists on the night. Austin Meier had 11 points and six rebounds before fouling out of the game. Jamel Sabree led MSOE in rebounds with seven.

Ricky Franklin of UWM led all scorers with 17 points in the panther win. 

In the first half, Milwaukee jumped out to a 9-1 lead, before Austin Meier scored four of the Raider’s next six points, closing the gap to 11-7 with 15:07 remaining in the first stanza. UW M had a 13-point lead in the first half until Bennett Deacon hit MSOE’s first three pointer of the game at the buzzer of the first half.

In the second half, MSOE closed the gap to 38-33 off a Meier rebound and bucket with 14:14 remaining in the game. The Panthers went on a 14-3 run to put the game out of reach for the Raiders.

 MSOE struggled from the field, shooting 27.9%, compared to the Panther’s 47.3%.  The Raiders lost the rebound war, 44-37.
