Hockey heads to playoffs; Host first round game on Friday

A come from behind 3-2 overtime victory Saturday night pushed the Raiders into hosting an MCHA first round playoff home game. MSOE (13-10-2, 12-7-1 MCHA) enters the MCHA eight playoff as the third seed and will face Minnesota-Crookston (5-20-0, 5-15-0 MCHA) the sixth seed in a Friday-Saturday two game playoff at the Kern Center. Game one is Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:05p.m. Game two is slated for a Saturday, Feb. 21 4:00p.m. start.
Games will be played as per NCAA rules with three 20-minute periods followed by one 5-minute overtime period if necessary. If teams are tied at the end of the OT period, award 1 point for a tie. Two points are awarded for a victory. If after the second game of the weekend, the teams have tied both or split the series, a Mini-Game will be played after resurfacing the ice. Teams will play one full 20-minute period (mini-game) to determine a winner. If a winner has not been determined, 20-minute sudden death periods shall used to determine a winner and team to advance to the next round.
The Harris Cup Four, MCHA's semifinals and championship game will be held at Adrian College, Saturday, Feb. 28 and Sunday, Mar. 1.
