Crew victory stuns Grand Valley State

Allendale, Mich. --With a revamped lineup this weekend that included several freshmen with no previous experience, the Raider's junior varsity eight-man boat (JV8) defeated a veteran Grand Valley State Laker squad and won the Frank Yates Cup. The victory came against the defending 2008 Dad Vail small school's champion and the same boat that defeated MSOE just three weeks ago in Marietta, Ohio. The victory marks the Raiders as a possible contender for the Dad Vail Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to be held at the end of the racing season.

In other divisional races, Last year's Novice lightweight 8 finished second at the Dad Vail Championships, and this year's team once again looks like a contender, defeating Grand Valley by over six boat lengths.  MSOE also won the JV4, defeating two Grand Valley boats in winning by a length of open water.  Other notables include the Novice heavyweight 8 making up seven seconds over last week's performance in finishing a boat length back of Grand Valley, and the Varsity Lightweight 4 finishing five seconds back.
