The combination of the AQ event and the NAC Championship from the fall determines which team receives the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship. The top four teams with total scores from the two events were MSOE (1250), Benedictine (1262), Aurora (1289) and Edgewood (1298).
Although head coach Joe Meloy led MSOE to 12 conference championships during his illustrious career, this will be his first trip to the NCAA tournament. It is only the second automatic qualifier in the history of the school, the first coming in form of a Lake Michigan Conference Tournament Championship by the MSOE men's basketball team in 2003.
At was a balance effort by the MSOE team to give them the two day low score of 633 (+56), just one stroke ahead of Edgewood College (634), and seven strokes better than 2008 regular season second place finisher Benedictine University (640).
The Raider's low score of the meet came from Eric Macias-Simon, a two day 156 (+12) landed him in third place overall. He was followed closely by teammates Matt Brandenburg and Peter Eich as they both finished the par 72, 6467 yard course with a score of 159 tying them in sixth place. Dane Zachman (T-8, 160) and Sam Meyers (T-22, 169) rounded out the NCAA bound squad.
