Women's Basketball Named Most Improved Team

The NCAA recently announced a list of most improved women's basketball teams in Division III and the MSOE Raiders topped that list. During the 20007-08 campaign, the Raiders collected a 1-24 overall record. In 2008-2009 they had an 11.5 game turnaround, finishing the season with a 13-13 record and the first .500 record in the history of the women's basketball program.

The success of the program did not go unnoticed. Head Coach Jessica Ott was recognized by the Northern Athletics Conference as the Coach of the Year. Coach Ott and the Raiders had significant success this year with a lineup of returning veterans and fantastic freshman. Freshman Center Carol Cayo was eighth in the nation with a 3.5 blocks per game average and recipient of the NAC Freshman of the Year award for 2008-09.

The women's basketball most improve list is announced yearly by the NCAA to recognize teams that have shown vast improvements from one season to the next.
