Wrestling takes sixth at North Central Invitational

THE MSOE wrestling team placed sixth overall at the prestigious North Central Invitational held Saturday in Naperville, Illinois.
Virgil Pope (Janesville, Wis. /Clinton) was the highest finisher for the Riaders, placing second overall, improving his record to 19-4.
Three other Raider grapplers placed third in their respective weight classes. Matt Olsen (Algonquin, Ill./ Jacobs) wrestling at 185, Jake Narveson (Chatfield, Minn./Chatfield)- 149 lbs, and Austin Binish (Sturgeon Bay, Wis./Sturgeon Bay) -125lbs, all took third place in their respective divisions.
Virgil Porn (Janesville, Wis. /Clinton), took sixth at 141# as this is the first meet he has placed in this year. Coach Kevin Morin is enthusiastic about his teams progress. "We are making progress with our young guys," said Morin. "We need to get everyone to place at these tournaments in order to break into the top tier."
The Raiders will try to do just that when they head to Florida for the Citrus duals and Invitational, Dec. 29-31 in Orlando, Florida.
