Men's Cross Country season recap

Led by senior Zak Lutz, the MSOE Men's Cross Country team finished in fourth place at the 2009 Northern Athletics Conference Championships in River Forest, Illinois. Lutz placed fifth for the Raiders which put him on the All-NAC First Team. Lutz was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team. Senior Jay Stasiak came in 26th and junior Matt Jungers was 27th which placed Stasiak and Jungers on the All-NAC Second Team. Junior Keen Unganst finished 29th and junior Cameron Rate placed 31st at the event. At the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional, the Raiders placed 26th with Lutz coming in 70th.

MSOE started the month of October with a strong second place finish in the Wisconsin Lutheran Warrior Invitational. Lutz finished in second place with a time of 27:15.98. Jungers ended up 17th while Unganst was 21st and Stasiak placed 24th. Freshman Jake Schneider was 28th for the Raiders. At the Wisconsin Private Schools Invitational, MSOE placed fifth with Lutz as the Raiders' top finisher in eighth.

The Raiders started out the season at the 35th Annual Tom Barry Invite hosted by St. Norbert College in September. MSOE finished in fourth place with Lutz being the top finisher for the Raiders in 12th. Jungers ended up in the 23rd spot. The next week, MSOE competed in the 5th Annual Carroll University Pioneer Cross Country Invitational where they came in fifth place. Jungers was MSOE's top finisher in 26th place.

Later in September, the Raiders placed seventh in the Whitewater Warhawk Invitational. Lutz finished 54th at that event. At the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational, MSOE came in 29th place with Lutz as the top finisher for the Raiders.
