Plautz selected as MSOE Women's Golf Coach

Milwaukee - MSOE athletic director Dan Harris announced the hiring of Phil Plautz as the new women's golf coach. Plautz, the Director of Instruction at Missing Links Golf Course and Driving Range, located in Mequon, will be the first golf professional to lead the MSOE women's golf team since the team's inception in 1999. Plautz brings over ten years of coaching experience to MSOE. His primary objective in 2010 will be to recruit a competitive team that will begin Northern Athletics Conference play in Fall 2011.

As an athlete, Plautz was a Wisconsin State Junior Champion in golf and an All-State soccer player at the University School of Milwaukee. In club soccer, Plautz played alongside MSOE's men's soccer coach and former World Cup starter Jimmy Banks.

Plautz attended New Mexico Junior College on an athletic scholarship and earned NJCAA All-American honors in golf. He then attended Baylor University, again on athletic scholarship, and received a Bachelor's of Business Administration degree, majoring in Marketing and Management.

Plautz turned professional in 1991 and turned his focus to golf instruction and coaching. He has participated in numerous Wisconsin State Open events and frequently participates in Wisconsin PGA Section events. He is still competitive and carries a plus 2 handicap.

Plautz is married to his wife Pam and father of Alex (11), Sydney (9), and Isabelle (4).
