MSOE men's soccer shuts down Rockford

Mariano Suaso-Rodriguez sets freshman standard

The MSOE men's soccer squad shut out Rockford 5-0 in both teams NAC opening game Saturday afternoon at Time Warner Cable Stadium. Freshman Mariano Suaso-Rodriguez scored his first three career goals for a hat trick. All three goals came in the final ten minutes of the first half. This is the first time in the school's history that a freshman not only scored a hat trick in his first home game but also in his first half of his first home game.

Seniors Jimmy Burns and Rafael Arndt added goals as well. Arndt, junior Dan Hosko and freshmen Jake Noggle and Noah Corbeil-Wild each logged assists. Junior Jon Cerny and freshman Michael Fricke both played goalkeeper for the Raiders to combine for the shutout.

MSOE (1-3, 1-0 NAC) will face Carroll Wednesday at 4 p.m. in a nonconference match.
