Schadler reaches fourth round at Midwest Open

Some members of MSOE men's tennis team competed in the ITA Midwest Open hosted by Gustavus Adolphus in Saint Peter, Minn. this weekend. Senior Mark Schadler made it into the fourth round of the tournament with wins over Chris Thornton from UW-Eau Claire and Alex Nagle of Saint Scholastica. The victory over Thornton was 6-0, 6-4 and the win over Nagle was 6-0, 6-1. Schadler lost to Michael Lieberman of Gustavus Aldolphus 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 in the fourth round.

Senior Dustin Holzhauer defeated Tyler Bertelson of UW-La Crosse 6-0, 6-2 in the first round and fell to Patrick Pisani from Gustavus Aldolphus in the second round.

Junior Juan Montenegro knocked off Nick Lind of Saint Scholastica 6-1, 6-4 in the first round. Montenegro lost to Peter Stadum from UW-La Crosse in the second round. Junior Anthony Barhouse had a bye in the first round and beat Kolin Dean of Saint Scholastica 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 12-10 in the second round. Barhouse lost to Kevin Friend from UW-Whitewater in the third round.

The Raiders won the NAC Championship last season and competed in the NCAA Tournament.
