Meier scores 14 points in 86-37 loss to UWM

The MSOE Raiders opened their men's basketball season with a 86-37 loss to NCAA Division I crosstown opponent University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers. ESPN Academic All-American Austin Meier led the Raiders by scoring 14 points on 6-9 shooting from the field. Meier fouled out with 7:47 remaining in the game but grabbed five rebounds, had two steals, one block and one assist on the night.
Sophomore Victor Bande led all players with three blocks off the bench while starting guard junior Bennett Deacon had five points and five assists on the night. Tone Boyle led the Panthers with 12 points in 19 minutes played.
The Raiders will begin the regular season when they host the All-Engineers Classic at the Kern Center. MSOE will play Caltech Saturday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The other pairing consists of the Merchant Marine Academy and Carnegie Mellon. The consolation and championship games for the tournament will take place Sunday, Nov. 21 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
