Keizer's hat trick helps 11th ranked MSOE hockey blow past Saint Mary's 7-1

Sophomore Jordan Kezier recorded his third hat trick of the season as the No. 11 Raiders beat Saint Mary's 7-1 Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center. Keizer has 13 goals on the season. MSOE is now 8-0 on the year.

Keizer started the scoring at the 13:17 mark of the first period when he netted a power play goal which was assisted by Michael Schenfeld. After the Cardinals tied the game eight seconds later, sophomore Bradley Tierney scored another power play goal that was set up by Schenfeld and Keizer.

In the second period, freshman Ben Lauder jumped out of the penalty box into the neutral zone after serving two minutes for holding and received a pass which quickly turned into a goal which was set up by freshman Steven Shaffroth and sophomore Sean McGaughy. Less than 30 seconds later, junior Todd Krupa scored his seventh goal of the year. That goal was assisted by junior Michael Soik and sophomore Mike Pao.

The Raiders scored three times in the final period. Freshman Michael Thompson set up Keizer's second goal of the game at the 4:44 mark of the third period. Keizer scored his second short-handed goal of the year ten minutes later to finish the hat trick. Soik finished the scoring with a goal just after an MSOE power play ended. Krupa logged the lone assist on that goal.

Junior goaltender Connor Toomey made 23 saves to pick up his seventh win of the year. Toomey's goals against average is now 1.14 and his save percentage is 95%.

The Raiders (8-0) will face St. Thomas Friday, Dec. 10 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. at the Kern Center.
