Bramstedt wins individual title at MSOE Invitational

The Raiders placed fourth at MSOE Invitational Saturday at the Kern Center. Senior Samuel Bramstedt won the tournament title at 165 pounds and received the Outstanding Wrestler Award for the event. Bramstedt was 3-0 and knocked off Ryan Renon from Lakeland College 4-3 for the championship. Coming into the tournament, Renon was ranked as an honorable mention nationally by D3wrestling.com. Bramstedt becomes only the fifth wrestler in school history to win MSOE's tournament and is the first MSOE wrestler to be named the Outstanding Wrestler in this home event.

Junior Jake Narveson went 3-1 at 149 pounds to finish second. Narveson fell to Jose Quintana from UW-Oshkosh 8-7 in the title match at that weight class. Senior Virgil Pope also was 3-1 at the 157-pound class and placed second as he lost to Isaac Roberson from Lakeland 11-6.

Senior Dominick Deligio logged a record of 3-1 at 125 pounds as he finished third. Sophomore Steven Nguyen was also third at the 285-pound weight class with a 3-2 record. He defeated MSOE freshman Austin Karls to place third.

Sophomore Josh Wengerter went 5-2 at 149 pounds to finish fifth. Sophomore Matt Ostovich had a mark of 3-2 at 141 pounds and finished in sixth place.

UW-Oshkosh won the event with four first place finishers. The Raiders will take part in the University of Dubuque Duals Saturday, Dec. 12 in Iowa.
