The MSOE wrestling team took part in the Citrus Open Dec. 29-30 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Raiders placed tenth out of 14 teams at the event. MSOE's top finisher was senior Virgil Pope who placed fourth at the 157-pound weight class. Pope went 4-2 in the tournament and now has 99 wins in his MSOE career. There are only four Raider wrestlers with 100 wins or more. Junior Jake Narveson finished fifth at 149 pounds while sophomore Josh Wengerter was eighth also at that weight class.
Senior Dominick Deligio placed ninth at the 125-pound weight class and senior Samuel Bramstedt placed tenth at 165 pounds. Freshman Dallas Schurg finished first in the Silver Division (underclassmen) at 141 pounds. Sophomore Matt Weber placed third in the Silver Division at that same weight class.
The tournament included numerous nationally ranked teams including Augsburg which is the defending champion for Division III. MSOE is back in action this Saturday in the UW-Oshkosh Duals.
