Diederich places ninth at NCAA Outdoor Championships in decathlon


Senior Kevin Diederich finished ninth at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the decathlon. The final five events of the decathlon took place Friday at Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio. Diederich had 6431 points for the ten events. He was eight points behind James Bell of Lynchburg for the final All-American spot. 

Diederich best event was the 110-meter hurdles where he gained 821 points with a time of 15.24 seconds to finish in third place. He finished second in the discus throw with a toss of 38.91 meters to earn 642 points. Diederich was fifth in the javelin throw at 48.93 meters for 573 points. He scored 431 points after a mark of 3.30 meters in the pole vault. In the final event, Diederich had 566 points after he had a time of 4:58.88 in the 1500-meter run.
