No. 14 MSOE men's volleyball finishes 3-0 at M3VC Crossover


The No. 14 Raiders beat Thiel and Fontbonne Saturday in Cincinnati in the Midwest-III Volleyball Conference Crossover. MSOE edged Thiel in five games (25-19, 25-27, 25-19, 17-25, 15-12) and swept Fontbonne in three games (25-20, 25-21, 25-18). Against Thiel, sophomore Alex Harbour recorded 15 kills with a .438 hitting percentage. Junior Max Martin had 11 kills while senior Mitch Paulus logged ten kills. 

Freshman setter Josh Avery had a season-high 47 assists while sophomore libero John Cote led the Raiders with 12 digs. Paulus and sophomore Jack Geary each had four blocks while Geary logged eight kills. Junior John Buczynski picked up eight kills and seven digs. In the match-deciding fifth game, MSOE had a team hitting percentage of .667 with ten kills.

In the match against Fontbonne, Geary led the Raiders with ten kills with a .368 hitting mark. Martin and sophomore David Johnson each put down eight kills as Johnson had a .615 hitting percentage. Geary and Martin both had three blocks. Freshman setter Matt Morrone logged 33 assists. Cote led MSOE with six digs. 

The Raiders (4-7, 3-1 M3VC) play in New York City Saturday, Feb. 26 and Sunday, Feb. 27 in the Baruch Tournament.
