Diederich qualifies for NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships

With his first place performance in the decathlon at North Central, senior Kevin Diederich has qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Diederich recorded 6424 points at the Greg Invitational Multi-Event in Naperville, Ill. His score put him seventh among all Division III athletes. The decathlon at the Outdoor Championships begins at 12 p.m. this Thursday at Ohio Wesleyan in Delaware, Ohio. Click here for the schedule of events.
The first event is the 100-meter dash with the long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter dash being the other events taking place Thursday. Friday’s decathlon events start with the 110-meter hurdles and continue with the discus throw, pole vault, javelin and 1500-meter run.
At North Central last week, Diederich’s best event was the 110-meter hurdles where garnered 816 points after finishing first with a time of 15.28 seconds. He was also first in the long jump with a mark of 6.83 meters to earn 774 points. Diederich was on top in the discus throw with a toss of 42.72 meters for 720 points. He was second in the shot put at 12.73 meters (651 points) and in the 100-meter dash at 11.41 seconds (771 points).
