Morin named WWCA District #8 Coach of the Year

MSOE wrestling coach Kevin Morin has been named Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Association (WWCA) District #8 (College Division) Coach of the Year. Last year, Morin and MSOE assistant coach Mario Trafficante were selected as District #8 Co-Coaches of the Year. Morin is now up for WWCA Coach of the Year.

Morin was also picked as the Northern Wrestling Association's Coach of the Year for 2010-2011. He received the award five times when MSOE was a member of the Lake Michigan Conference. This season, Morin led the Raiders to a program best 9-2 dual record this season including first ever defeats over three Wisconsin state schools. The Raiders finished in second place at the NWA conference tournament.

Also at the regional, Senior Virgil Pope finished in sixth place in the 157-pound weight class.

At the NWA conference tournament, Narveson took the title at 141 pounds. In the 184-pound weight class, sophomore Caleb Staub won by major decision 16-3. Sophomore Steven Nguyen came out with the title at 285 pounds.
