MSOE baseball edges Edgewood in first game


The Raiders trailed by two in the bottom of the ninth and came back to beat Edgewood 6-5 in ten innings in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday. Junior Mike Ricciardi singled home freshman Tyler Magyar to win the game. Sophomore Bradley Brossard pitched a spotless tenth inning to earn the victory for MSOE. Senior pitcher Ben Hansen pitched nine innings and allowed four earned runs and struck out four.

Also in the first game, freshmen Maxwell Poeske, Jacob Roberts and Alex Luna each had two hits while Poeske scored two runs. In game two, freshman Adam Vlaj, sophomore Wes Stasik, senior Emery Hull and Ricciardi all had two hits. Sophomore starting pitcher Sam Matthies threw five innings and allowed two earned runs and struck out four.

The Raiders face Benedictine this Saturday in Lisle, Ill. for a doubleheader.
