MSOE wrestling takes three individual titles at NWA Conference Tournament

The Raiders finished second at the Northern Wrestling Association Conference Tournament with 94.5 points Saturday in Mequon, Wis. Lakeland won their fourth straight NWA Championship with 102 points. Junior Jake Narveson took title at 141 pounds with a 7-2 decision against Rob Frias of Lakeland in the championship match. In the 184-pound weight class, sophomore Caleb Staub won by major decision 16-3 against Shane Brandl of Concordia-Wisconsin to win that title. Sophomore Steven Nguyen came out with the title at 285 pounds by beating Thomas Phalin 8-2 in the final match.
Sophomore Josh Wengerter came in second in the 149-pound weight class. Senior Virgil Pope also placed second for the Raiders at 157 pounds. At 125 pounds, senior Sammy Deligio defeated Grant Franson of Lakeland in the third place match by the score of 9-5. Senior Dominick Deligio also placed third in the 133-pound weight class. Freshman Dallas Schurg was the third place finisher at 141 pounds.
Senior David Swanson pinned Jordan Semevolos at the 2:33 mark of the third place match in the 157-pound weight class. Senior Samuel Bramstedt knocked off Josiah Brendemuehl at 165 pounds by a 9-5 decision in the third place match. Freshman Marcus Rokosh finished fourth in the 174-weight class while Kyle Perea was fourth at 197 pounds.
MSOE will take part in the Division III Great Lakes Regional Saturday, Feb. 26 in Sheboygan, Wis. That event is hosted by Lakeland.
