MSOE hockey improves to No. 9 in national poll

MSOE hockey has moved up to No. 9 in the United States Collegiate Hockey Online (USCHO.com) Division III Poll after sweeping Lake Forest this past weekend in MCHA play. The Raiders beat the Foresters 7-2 Friday night in Milwaukee and came back to win 3-2 Saturday in Lake Forest. This coming weekend, MSOE heads to Michigan to face No. 8 Adrian Friday night and Saturday evening in a battle for the top of the MCHA.
Freshman defenseman Devin Schmitt scored the game-winning goal Saturday against Lake Forest. Junior forward Todd Krupa tied the game at 2 with 5:29 left in the game. Friday night, sophomore captain forward Bradley Tierney had two of the Raiders' seven goals.
Sophomore forward Jordan Keizer is tied for the lead in all of Division III with 14 goals. Junior goaltender Connor Toomey is fifth in the country with a 1.58 goals against average and ninth with a 93.4% save percentage.
MSOE continue to lead the nation in penalty kill situations as they have given up just four power play goal in 64 opportunities (93.8%). The Raiders are second in the nation in scoring margin (2.46) and third in scoring defense (1.77). MSOE has the second best winning percentage of any team in the West region (.846) and is third nationally in that category.
