Werner leads MSOE track & field at GVSU Big Meet

The Raiders competed in the GVSU Big Meet this weekend in Allendale, Mich. against athletes from all levels of the NCAA. Sophomore Jordan Werner tied for fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.04 seconds and was 16th in the 200-meter dash at 22.52 seconds. His time in the 200-meter dash is a new school record.
Senior Michael Jasperson had a toss of 16.32 meters in the weight throw to place 12th. Freshmen Matt Waech and Mike Cosentino tied for 15th with a mark of 4.2 meters each in the pole vault to set a new season high for MSOE in that event. Cosentino ran the 60-meter hurdles event in 9.07 seconds to finish 22nd.
Sophomore Ben Peterson was 27th in the mile run with a mark of 4:32.85 which is the best time for an MSOE athlete this season. Sophomore Chris Neja ran the 400-meter dash in 51.80 seconds for another season best time. Freshman Milan Johnson logged a time of 2:04.03 in the 800-meter run for a top MSOE 2011 time.
Freshman Melody Scrivano had a throw of 9.96 meters in the shot put for a new MSOE season high. Junior Emily Dieringer recorded a time of 27.07 seconds in the 200-meter dash for a MSOE season best mark.
The Raiders will take part in the UWM Panther Tune-Up Friday at the Klotsche Center in Milwaukee.
