MSOE men's basketball No. 8 in NCAA regional rankings

The first NCAA Division III regional rankings were recently announced and the Raiders are No. 8 in the Midwest Region. The men's basketball program, which spans over thirty years, receives NCAA regional recognition for the first time ever in the school's history.

Head coach Brian Miller, in his seventh year at the helm of the Raiders, is in what will prove to be his seventh consecutive winning season, guiding them to a current 14-5 overall record and 8-3 in NAC play with a 13-5 record in region. Miller and MSOE's success stems from successful recruiting, which includes MSOE senior co-captains Austin Meier and Bennett Deacon.

On the court, 2009-2010 Academic All-American, Meier leads the Raiders in scoring (16.9 PPG), rebounding (10.9 RPG), blocks (13) and steals (60). He is currently seventh in all of Division III in steals, ninth in double-doubles (11) and 18th in rebounding. Deacon is second on the team in scoring averaging 10.2 points per game.

MSOE joins two other NAC teams ranked in the Midwest, including Concordia-Wisconsin at No. 2 and Edgewood checks in at No. 4. The Raiders will face Aurora Thursday night at the Kern Center. Listen to the game here at 7 p.m.
