MSOE softball splits with crosstown foe Alverno

Junior starting pitcher Jessica Iversen allowed just one run and drove in the game-winning run as the Raiders beat crosstown rival Alverno 2-1 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday in Milwaukee. Iversen struck out five in seven innings of work. MSOE scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game.
Sophomore Julie Windish scored on a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Windish had two hits in the game including a double which led off the inning. Iversen singled home sophomore Courtney Leaf to clinch the victory for the Raiders.
In the second game, MSOE was edged by the Inferno 2-1. Sophomore Rebecca Gardner was 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Iversen pitched a complete game and allowed two earned runs.
The Raiders host Mount Mary Monday at 3 p.m. at the MSOE Athletic Field.
