MSOE men’s golf closes in on return to NCAA Division III Championship

The Raiders have a three-shot lead over Edgewood as the Northern Athletics Conference determines who will represent the conference in the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship. MSOE made up 13 strokes on the Eagles Monday at the Spring AQ Meet in Aurora, Ill. There were 27 holes played on Monday because of weather expected on Tuesday. Edgewood took the NAC Fall Championships by ten strokes over the Raiders. The two tournaments combine to determine who heads to the NCAA Division III Championship out of the NAC.
Junior Dane Zachman leads all golfers at the event as he shot one-over par on the day. Zachman shot a 74 to to open the day and a 35 in the final nine holes. Senior Peter Eich is tied for fifth after a ten-over 27 holes while seniors Jason Arnes and Ben Turk are both tied for eighth at 12-over for the tournament.
The NCAA Division III Championship is May 10-13 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C. The Raiders qualified for the 2009 Division III Championship.
