MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame
Dan Harris was named athletic director in 1995, and he applied his previous professional experience as a college athletic director to develop a highly organized and competitive athletic program of 22 Division III varsity sports for men and women. Harris’ leadership led to the formation of the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Conference whose annual trophy, The Harris Cup, was named in his honor.
Harris also led MSOE’s move to the 13-team Northern Athletic Conference and helped build conferences in men’s volleyball, men’s lacrosse and wrestling. Harris developed a highly respected, professional coaching staff as well as supporting professional personnel in sports medicine, sports information, athletic administration and athletic facility management.
Harris’ tenure as athletic director is one of the longest in NCAA Division III athletics.
