Jill Weber ’93

MSOE Athletic Hall of Fame

When someone who knows Weber hears her name, the James Taylor song "You've Got A Friend" may come to mind. Her selflessness and devotion to the team (1989-1991 and 1993) proved she has the character of a champion.

Undeterred by having her career interrupted by a broken leg in 1992, Weber, a three-time MVP, was a jack-of-all trades for the softball team. ,She slipped into the assistant coach role for the season, her leadership ability and knowledge making her a natural.

Weber's solid hitting - a career batting average of more than .350 - helped earn her three consecutive MVP awards, but her passion was displayed when she stepped to the pitching rubber. Weber, the team captain in 1993, came off her injury to lead her team in Conference to a 9-5 record, with 51 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.33. This comeback performance earned her a fourth team MVP, a First Team All-Conference selection and the Lake Michigan Conference District Player of the Year honors.
